Hello to everyone, and thanks in advance for any and all help.
I haven't been on this board for around 10 years, nor have I shot rf benchrest in about 8 years. At the time I stopped ,rifles like Time Precision were heavy hitters and the swindlehurst was the new kid on the block along with the all popular anschutz, 40x ,suhl ect.I own one of the first swindlehurst ser.#0005 and it has only been shot to test ammo, never in comp.In looking at some of the equipment lists,it seems the Time is out dated, and the swindlehurst is no longer made.Sorry, to my questions.Has the new equipment got so much better that my rifle will not compete, and could someone help me with matches in the showme state
Thanks

You shouldn't have a problem. I still shoot a Time, and I love it. The Swindlehurst is a great action, but I think it was more expensive than the other good actions. I'm sorry to see the Swindlehurst gone, because I don't have one yet, and I would really like one. Good Luck and have fun!

Where ya at in the Show Me State......Look at the ARA club listing.
Matchs in Jefferson City, Owensville, Louisiana, Wright City, and around KC and North of KC.

Probably as many matchs in Missouri as anywhere in the country.

Thanks for the info.I'm in central mo.about 4hrs from kc,3.5hrs from st.louis, and about 1.5 from jeff city. One more question,it seems the cases of lapua midas m I bought years ago does not shoot well any more, looks like the lube has some what dried up, is there any way to bring life back to that ammo ,or is it just good for the kids?
Thanks,
Ted

Where exactly are you located Ted? I would guess south of I-44?

I wish I could help you on the ammo but technically per almost all of the official rules you can't modify the lube in any way. That is not uncommon though and I would suspect someone here can give you some good advice on the lube of your Midas.....just interested....what is the lot number?

Take care....hopefully we will see you at an ARA match this year.

First one is end of the month in St. Louis/Wright City and one the next day in Owensville.

Charlie

The city is Lebanon right on I-44 between springfield and rolla.

Ya ,no mods to ammo, but if I could get it to shoot better maybe I could use it for practice. The lot number is 4026d.

I don't think I can get any ammo found and tested by then, but maybe I could come and meet you ,and some of the guys and girls of coarse.

Do you know the best source for eley and lapua ammo for different lots to test that will hold cases of ammo for you while you test?

My rifle did not like eley as well before, but would like to try new stuff.

Thanks,
Ted

Yea you really need to try the Eley. Charles Scott out of Kansas City sells Lapua, though it is in short supply right now.

Eley can be purchased through Killough Shootin Sports, Bob Collins or Gene Davis.

Go to the home page and click on ammo, I think they will show up.

All good guys to deal with.

By the way used to be 2 ranges around Springfield but they no longer shoot ARA.

Owensville, just come down I-44 to Cuba and turn north to Owensville.

Thanks for the info Charlie.

If anyone has any contact info for the 2 ranges around Springfield Mo. that Charlie spoke of,I would love to work on getting a rf bench rest club going in the area.Promote the sport, thats what it's about.

Ted,

That's a fine action and as good as any with a little tuning. I have one, use it, love it, and would not mind another. That being said they've never been cheap and when production finished they cost $1500+. Good luck with it. The only postscript I would add is that barrel quality today, on average, is better and if anything, if your gun shoots less than expectation, I'd only rebarrel.

Ted, I also have a Swindlehurst....sn 0014.

Bad news may be getting parts if you need them.

Charlie

You're right it's very well made, very smooth, and the easiest to load I've ever seen and I don't think we"ll be needing parts any time soon.

This rifle shot really good,to the point ammo testing was hard to tell apart, and it seemed like it was going to shoot through the wind. But things came up and in the safe it went for years and now I need new ammo.Looking forward to testing,I feel like kid with a new toy.
