Can someone tell me the most likely corrections on these group types.

could be a number of things to be quite honest. I am no pro by any means but i do shoot a lot. So here is what i might suggest. sideways or vertical i wouls assume powder. Thats if i am pretty sure my seating depth is correct or close. Really its just to hard to answer your question without knowing more. There are some smart fellas around here, so maybe they will be a better source of help. good luck. lee

Caveat: I'm pretty new to shooting
Vertical variation - variation in muzzle velocity is a prime suspect, but, variation in how consistently you hold the recoil can certainly cause vertical variation
Horizontal variation - crosswind is a prime suspect
A what range are you shooting? rimfire? Centerfire? How good is your benchrest setup?

I assure you, if I put my standard load of powder in and seat the bullets on hard jam, I'll have two bullet holes of built in horizontal, and that's in a tunnel with no wind!
Pushing bullets back into the case .005 at a time, and the horizontal will disappear just when the bullets come off the lands or just kissing.
You might as well keep this to yourself after you see it with your own eyes because no one will believe you if you try to tell them; it goes completely against conventional wisdom.

Round groups? Minor discrepancies in the horizontal and vertical adjustments, or an inability to read wind flags correctly.

Thanks everyone, I guess I should have given a little more info on my problem. I'm shooting a Ruger scout rifle in 308 and I'm getting about a 2" round 10 shot group and was wondering the most likely place to start to shrink this down. Thanks for your help! David
Wow I think a 2 inch, 10 round group with that rifle is great.
Since it's a .308, which I have several, try Varget and Sierra 168 Match Kings, Lapua brass is nice.
If you are getting the velocity you want, changing the seating depth might be an eye opener.
I have a rifle that would not shoot worth beans (big round groups). It now shoots tiny little groups at 0.100 off the lands!!!!!!!!

What is the bedding situation for this rifle? I would never waste a lot of time tuning with factory bedding.
