Life expectancy....

With reasonable care,i.e._keeping the action clean, bolt lugs greased, not overloading, etc, what do you think the life expectancy of a CUSTOM action(for a 6PPC) is OR do they EVER wear out? Has anyone kept an action long enough and used it to the point that it needed replacing...5yrs...10yrs...15yrs...20yrs...or more?? Thank you...gpoldblue

Custom actions have not been around long enough to really tell how long one will last.

There's an old joke - A Stolle action is like a woman's #%@. It never wears out. ;)

I bought a well used Panda in 1999. From what I can tell it is now almost 20 years old. I have worn out 6 barrels and the 7th just gave me a .157 group at 200 yards at this year's Cactus Classic. If you take proper care of an action it should outlast the shooter.

I ask that same question to Tom Griffin and Carl Phipps at Kelblys several years ago. They have had Pandas in that were over 500.000 rounds and still going strong. I do take my Pandas every 2 years at the Super Shoot and Carl puts new springs in them, just as a precaution.

I got a new one today from the FedEx girl that has what I call the "Tommy Kicker". Tom Griffin designed a manual ejector, no springs. I ran about 50 through it about 2 hours ago. Never a miscue. Kelblys calls it a Panda TG. I had this one made with the ejection port long enough to handle a 6/284 case. Since it handled the 220 Russian brass with ease it sure should handle 6BR and 6/284 brass.
