I have an chance to purchase a used Leupold scope. It's an Ultra M1-A 16 power, 30 MM tube, plex reticle, matte finish, tall target elevation turret, smaller windage turret and side focus parralex adjustment. It appears to be in excellent condition. When did Leupold make these and what were they sold for when new. I just checked their site and nothing with that nominclature is presently offered. Anybody.
Thanks,
Bill B.

I have a Leupold MARK 4 M1 - 16X and the elevation and windage turrents are the same size, the (left) side parralax adjustment knob is slightly smaller. You can still get them.
It is not an M1A. There are a lot of Chicom copies of this particular model Leupold being sold on Ebay, cheap. The current dealer cost on a scope such as mine is almost $1300, I have had mine since the 90's and it cost about $800 dealer then.

219don,

If there is any doubt whatsoever about the authenticity of the used scope, get the serial number on the scope and call the customer service people at Leupold. If possible it would be best if you have the scope in your hands when you call Leupold. Leupold may be able to give you a retail cost when it was new.
