Leopold M8-16X?

Would anyone hazard a guess as to when this pre-1974 Leopold was made? It's 16X and has a serial number of 3305994. It's about 15 1/4" long and the objective is 1 7/8" or right at 50mm. I've got an email into Leoplod but haven't heard back.

My Farther owned one of these. Can't remember the serial number. However I remember him purchasing it brand new in 1970 to grace the top of his .243 However they may have been available before that. At least you know it goes back to '70.

Well, I bought one new in about mid 70's when they first came out and don't believe pre-74. I borrowed a Lyman for Perry in 76 and bought the leupold when they came out. Have three of them, nice scope short turrets are nice feature.

I suppose it depends on the serial number. This one is pre-74 in that it has no prefix. Leopold started adding a prefix, IIRC, in 1974. Moreover, the scope in most places has turned a plum color.

I had written Leopold to see if they could tell me but only got referred to their website under FAQ's. Since after looking through all that all I saw was those scopes made from '74 on so, I guess I can only speculate since this one has no prefix.
