Hello all,

Just got a Lawton 7500 in .22BR. Upon wiping down the bolt, the ejector (I believe) popped out and came into 3 pieces - a small spring, a cylinder shaped piece with a point and an angled bottom and then the ejector itself. For the life of me I cannot get it back together. Thanks!

I have never seen a Lawton action for real but it sounds like a Sako type extractor. The good news is you have all 3 pieces, there should be a hole in the face of the bolt that will hold the spring followed by the cylindrical plug. The plug probably has a point on one end that end goes out and works against the bottom of the extractor to spring load it. If you study it you should be able to figure how it snaps in place but I really suggest you wait till tomorrow and call the manufacturer. If you do try to reassemble do it inside a zip lock bag. The spring flies a lot shorter distance and is easierto find that way when it goes flying, and it will.

Yes it is a bit tough to put back together, but it is doable. I have had a couple of these actions, and i also had to reinstall the extractor. I dont really remember what i had to do, but it seems to me like i had to accomplish to steps at one time, to reinstall the extractor. I do remember that it comes out a hole lot easier that it went back together. Good luck!! Lee

Thanks guys. I figured out how to install the extractor, after calling Lawton I think it's a weak spring that's causing the round to not eject.

My new dilemma is I cannot get the bolt apart. It's extremely gummed up and dirty but after about an hour with it I was unsuccessful at getting it apart.

Disassembly

That shouldn't be the case if you have the right tools and know what you're doing. Maybe you should get someone to show you what to do, that could be cheaper in the long run. Sorry, I'm not trying to insult you. - nhk

No offense take whatsover. I admit, I am youthful in both age and experience but I feel for the short time I have been working on/with benchrest rifles I've learned a lot.

Specifically, once I depress the "bolt cocking piece", after I rotate the piece it does not come loose but just rotates. Thanks guys!

Finally got it. Wasn't difficult at all but just one of those things when you don't know, you don't know!!! Managed to put a decent size scratch in the bolt shroud but I think I can replace that piece...thanks guys!!!
