Say, that's great. The whole world is still trying to solve who shot that plane down that was in a war zone and in restricted airspace and you already know. As to Putin he does PO atheists since he has brought christanity back to Russia.

Come on... please knock off the political stuff as Wilbur has requested.

Apparently you missed the news reports containing the radio transcripts of the Russian missle battery cmdr.
You're plobably right, those Ukranian potatoe farmers are known for their expertise with Soviet surface to air missiles.

I think this was a wonderful video of the event. The participants were, for the most part, youngsters. That whole group looked like people that you could see in any mall in America. I have no doubt that we could get along very well if the governments would get out of the way.

I worked for four years in Russia in the oil service business. My dad was a cold war warrior (Air force officer from '54 to '76 and three tours in VN) it was a unique experience to live along side people that a generation before was the hated enemy.

I fell in love with the Russian people and how well I was received and treated. I can't count the times that I had travel problems due to language and all I had to do was ask out loud if anyone spoke English... next thing I knew several people would be there to help, often going out of their way to get me to where I needed. Try that in NY, LA or even Dallas!

99% of the people there are just like us, they want the same things we do, a warm place to sleep, a good job and a safe place to raise their kids for a better live then their own. The other 1% are politicians I think.

I have so many good friends there that I feel bad about how they are coping with the financial problems going on over there, none of it is of their making, they have a rough road ahead of them just like many of us have gone through and wouldn't wish on anyone.

Also they do enjoy life, never miss an opportunity to share a meal with friends and celebrate life events to the fullest. If you ever get a chance to visit don't pass it up but be warned. "DO NOT" try to keep up with the toast! They will tag team you with vodka!

We are living in a strange world now. Our President approval rating is 13%, Russia's President, Vladimir Putin's approval rating is 85%. why? Part of the why of Putin's approval is that he has brought Christianity back to Russia. After Woodrow Wilson gave the Bolsheviks a free run after WW I, they destroyed some 155,000 Russian Orthodox (Christian) churches and the Russians have lived under an oppression that did not allow faith worshp.

I watched a TV program showing the Russian military on parade this Fall. From the aerial shots you could see the gold Christian crosses on many spiral domes.

For the last several years we have has several Russian benchrest shooters attending the Super Shoot. Seems Wayne Campbell, our NBRSA SE director, has taken them in. A really good bunch of folks.

I have a good friend, born and raised in Moscow who now lives in the US. She is a photo journalist for GEO magazine, the world equivalent of our National Geographic. When she first came here she was starting an article "Gun Violence in America". I took her to a rimfire benchrest match at Kettlefoot, then I took some various guns to my range and let her shoot a benchrest rifle, a shotgun at clays, and some pistols that she shot and fell in love with. She was very excited to get to shoot guns herself and has destroyed the Gun Violence article idea.

If you are a Facebook user you can call her at Elena Soboleva. Look under her 'photos" and you will see a picture of her playing Buffalo Bill.

(I have mixed feelings about Facebook but I use it some.....like I said we are living in a strange world.

Thanks for posting that, Jerry. I have believed for a long time that the Russian people are folks we would be friends with, much more so than many of our "so called" Allies in other parts of the world.
