Anyone using the new lapua 222 brass, what your rec for chamber neck size?
Im still waiting to order some brass and double check what my lot will be.
Any other 222 shooters?
Also any experiences with 222 in a 26" barrel, i want a quieter lighter varmint gun.
wanting to go 222, 26" heavy/mag sporter, 9 twist.

I've got a box of 100 new Lapua .222 brass. The neck thickness varies from .01275 to .013 approximately. On each case the uniformity of neck thickness is very
consistent, in other words, if it is an .013 neck thickness it will be on all sides of the neck.
My biggest surprise was a 4 grain variation in weight. The cases have not been preped, this is straight from the box.

222

Thats kind of what ive been hearing so far i have not had any luck finding anyone doing savage prefits with a 222rem with a .252 neck or reamer I was even thinking of .2515, somewhere around there, if i have to order a reamer.

My buddies and I have been shooting the tight neck 222 for past 10 years or more. We use a 0.243 neck on our reamer and turn the cases for a neck wall of 0.0085. This leaves .002 for neck clearance. Works very good. The 222 barrels last forever and are difficulty to beat at 100 yards.

246 neck

I am using a 246 neck. Works well for me with 52gn Watsons and 2 thou total clearance.

Peter,

The 52 gr Watsons were very good bullets. Mine are all gone. I am down the last 100 of my 57 gr Watsons. Been shooting Bergers and others of late.
