I am new to this site, so give me a while to figure it all out. I have 700 Lake City brass (07) and not sure how much powder to use, some say reduce by 10% and others only by 1.5gr of desired load. IMR 4895 is usually what I load, 42.0 gr's with Sierra 168 MK BTHP. CCI 200 primer. I was told by a member at our gunclub to come here and ask this question. I (like I said) have never used LC brass or any other milsurp brass. I appreciate any and all help here. Just don't want to see my headspace or gun go BOOM. Thanks for your help.

I have used military brass years ago with my '06 based rifles with out problems.

Case capacity is the main problem. Why don't you compare the water capacity in your Lake City Brass with what you are using now?

If the LC brass is less you should start with a lighter load and shoot several loads of 5 increasing about .5 grains until you are seeing pressure signs, Then back off about a grain.

Another good suggestion, maybe the best, is for you to call the question line at Sierra for help. Those guys are good.

if you are duplicating the m852 load..and that data is in the small arms ammo data sheets...42 grains of imr 4895....
2550 at something like 62 feet.
so work up from below.
last time i called accurate powder they said 4% reduction from THIER published loads for lc 308 match brass.

All of the above

as that is a load I also use; but, watch pressure signs as a hot day may put you into a sticky bolt lift. CCI 200 primers are on the mild side-a very good thing and the Russian's are even milder. If you need Quick Load pressure data send me a PM and I will try to help.:):) Cordially, Overbore
