I also have this posted in the rifle section, but I'm hoping to reach someone knowledgeable about a rifle. I found a L.E. Wilson cust build benchrest rifle in 22-250 on a Winchester 70 receiver. It has a Weaver micro trac 25x scope. Any idea of a value in it? Thank you.

Lee, its post 64. I would love to own it (I'm a fan of vintage firearms in general), but he claims that cabela's is willing to pay him $700 for the rifle alone, therefore he wants $1000 just for the rifle. I really think that is overpriced unless it wasn't shot much. If the previous owner did shoot a lot of matches, the barrel would probably be showing throat erosion.

So if cabelas is willing to pay $700 why would anybody else pay more- like $1000
A post 64 in 22-250 may be worth $700

Fir,

What is about this rifle that ties it to L.E. Wilson? it looks pretty much like a stock issue M-70 in an over the course high power set up. I knew Sam, and shot with him in BR matches up until his death in 1984. I never saw or heard him speak of such a rifle. Just wondering.

FWIW

Steve,
It's stamped on the barrel, L.E.Wilson Co. There is more writing in the picture but I cannot tell what it is. I can ask for more photos out of sheer curiosity.

Fir,

Thanks for the feedback. The rifle must be something Sam built for a non-BR shooter, or he used it for live varmint shooting only.
