Kelbly BR trigger

I have a couple of the BR triggers and all in all they are a fine piece of equipment. I do have one question from users in the field, so to speak. With several action options there are a series of pins for the trigger and suggestions as to which are to be used, however there are usually a couple lenghts that might be suitable. How do you folks test and decide, ultimately, which pin to go with?

Hey Tim,
I'm a little out of the progressive loop here, but is there a version of the Kelbly trigger now available with a safety ? For BR, the hinge pin being forward of the trigger shoe design( which required an upward lift of the trigger to release the fireing pin ) drove me nuts.I always felt that the break was superior to the Jewell and with a little( or a lot) more weight, easily obtained by moving the same length leverage pin to a different hole, that the Kelbly trigger would be the best hunting trigger on the planet( way better than the Jewell HVR) but ya gotta have a safety!
I was not aware that different length pins were available. Is this something new?
Greg Walley is the Kelbly trigger Guru,I hope he reads this thread and chimes in. If not, we can always harass him at work.

Joel, I do not know if a safty version exists but frankly looking hard at the design I'd doubt it. If you request the most recent instruction sheet it gives specs for various actions with pin lenghts that I believe vary from .510"-.550" on .010" increments.

I don't believe I said I was in doubt i asked about others thoughts on the subject. Somebody must have played with a couple different pins?

Much better thank you, bleeding has stopped, gauze is out, swelling is down still on pain meds, but I still plan on shooting at Buck Creek on Saturday.

Some people just don't appreciate free help.

Wow

Guy asks a legitimate question and Francis, as usual, gives one of his smartazed answers. Then Francis proceeds to highjack the thread. Way to go Francis...

Dan, what is a wooker? I am just trying to picture a part of Francis getting slapped and being from the other side of your home state I am a little behind on culture:D.
Good luck on Sat!

Well Francis, unless you need it in Braille....

I would think Tim knows who to talk to if he needs information from Kelblys, having had a few conversations with Greg over the phone myself. At times I feel guilty keeping Greg away from his normal duties.:D

Well thanks Francis. Now let me see if I got this right, they make the triggers, AND they have a telephone. Why did'nt I think of that???I suppose I should have either mentioned I talked to them up front when I bought the triggers but I figured that might not be needed since I figured maybe I would not get an snswer to a question I did not ask, i.e. the term "others". I think I know now why you do not recieve PM's. Go figure.

I didn't think my answer was smart assed. I told him to call Kelbly and get the straight information, which you have failed to provide. Also.

Francis, I think we should get outta Dodge, before the web cops handcuff us, your buddy Al and this guy Tim don't like us, they got lotsa smartass remarks and maybe no common cents.lol

Tim,

The Kelbly triggers that I have set up have been on Remington 700s, I don't have custom actions.
I have surface ground the pins to the length that I want, that I feel works best for that particular action, in the hole that I'm using. This is probably not necessary but I do it just because I can and I'm a bit anal about triggers and their set-up and functions.
I have only used them at the very lowest pull, not at the other three available holes.
I still prefer the 3-lever triggers that my friend made over any of the available triggers. Just personal preference, implying nothing negative about the Jewell, Kelbly, Shilen, Timney, etc.

Thanks Jay. Do you, for instance, have your own method to see if there is any striker drag over the bar when it drops?
