i have a rifle i just changed stocks on. it shot well in the other stock and i was trying it on a one piece rest i got. well it just seemed to fall off in the one piece rest. today at the range i let a friend of mine shoot it on my old frunt rest and rear sandbag. the rifle shoots great with that set up. has anybody ever had a rifle that shoots better on a frunt rest and sand bag than it does on a one piece rest? i'm new to the one piece rest and was wondering if anybody else has had this happen before?

Rest Top?

Are the tops on both rests the same? Some rifles like sand bags better than a hard surface top. Tension on the forend may not be equal on both rest setups. A one piece setup, takes some practice and patience.

i have to open the front rest up on the one piece rest to get the stock into it. then the springs put pressure on it. my 3 inch forend rifle slides right into in perfectly and has no problems. on the one piece rest it has adjustable sides and can be adjusted to allow the rifle to recoil back freely with no side tension at all. you may have solved the problem for me. thank you.

From my experience, an un-tuned (out of tune) rifle shoots better on a 2 piece.

the rifle is tuned. it shot very very well in the old stock in the one piece rest with a adjustable top. in the new stock it just doesn't shoot in the one piece well at all.

New stock vs. old stock materials? Is one stiffer than the other? Could also be a balance issue if the weight is a lot different.
