Wild River Air Rifle - USARB Report
June 29, 2011

Interesting conditions today from invisible swirls to light wind. It was enough to keep the scores humble. Ron bucked the trend with a terrific ‘X’ count. Almost HALF his total shots found the center of the 10 ring.

Mike,
Thanks for posting the scores. Everyone shot GREAT! Sure wish all of you could have made the trip to S.C. Ron congrats on your 250.

Paul

Thanks Paul,
Wayne Burns will carry our flag at the World event. He doesn't shoot an FWB but we'll work on him when he returns if he doesn't win his class.
Major good luck to you, Paul.

World Postal Championship

Hopefully, your bunch will participate in the qualifying for the World Postal Championship. 3 teams of 3 members and no more. Minimum of 3 scores shot during the qualifying period with scores and X count being averaged. Targets will need to be unmolested and sent to me and then forwarded to an anonymous independent scoring group.

These guys in Grants Pass are not only great bench rest and "silly wet" air pistol shooters... but really nice folks to boot! I made all the pleas I could, to get them to commit to go S Carolina.... but to no avail.... they send a rookie instead.. They have helped me a lot in wind reading.. and Lucky me, I've got LD and Tim to thank for getting me involved in the BR game at all. When a guy buys a great rig Tim and gets an LD tune, it covers a lot of rookie stuff... I'm a sponge sucking up all I can learn in a short time!

These Wild River guys, just take turns shooting world class scores and winning each week.. in pretty tricky conditions. I'm just learning this BR game.. and especially the flag reading game, and it is for sure needed, to shoot well at their place..from what I've seen in the past trying to shoot there, these are not dead calm conditions scores... . Up and down currents are loads of fun there.

I've got an idea.. let's just move the event out here... save me n' LD some driving.. and we'll get more top shooters to play:)

On the postal championship, how do you deal with the different conditions the scores were shot it?.. or does it matter in this game? A place like LD's in Temecula, CA. would very seldom have mildly tough conditions like I see at Wild River, with my range being somewhere in the middle, at times. I've shot quite a bit at those three places and know that they are all very different and LD's is by far the hardest place to get a decent score. The winds are violent and change directions very hard and fast! The same type thing happens at my range and Wild River, but to much lessor degree... and calmer.. longer "openings" for a shot are present.

I've never played the postal game, but it seems like an issue for this newbie to understand?

Absolutely we're interested in the World Postal Championship! By unmolested targets I assume you mean do NOT plug them first. We'll be more than happy to play. All information on WRABF site? Thanks Cris

More To Follow

There will complete details on usairriflebenchrest.com after the World Championships are over.

No qualifying can be perfect when it is done in multiple locations and times but it is the best we an do. "Unmolested" will mean that the target has not been plugged. Averaging a minimum of 3 scores will hopefully give us a more level playing field as conditions change.
