Jim Carmichel is awarded NSSF/POMA award at 2008 SHOT Show

Congratulations Jim! It was well deserved. I hope to shoot next to you again this year. Maybe I won't shoot on your target this time.

I grew up reading his Modern Rifle book, Superb. Some of the other writers are so full of themselves or BS.
Some shoot a rock with the rifle and call it good. Nothing worse than reading a write up on a new rifle and the author sight it in and goes hunting. And never tell you what kind of groups he shot.
All to often the author will shoot a group and tell you what the "4" shots measured and
not say what it measured with the "5" shot.

Jim is a great writer and a shooter and he does it with STYLE. I also like the articles he does on custom guns.

That's good...

I've always darkly suspicioned that many gunwriters did their best shooting with their keyboard. Not so with Jim Carmichel... I have seen him shoot many times. This man knows what he is doing and he is very, very good at communicating it to others.

Good choice.
 
I've always enjoyed reading Jim's articles. Jerry, I still hate that I didn't get a chance to meet him when he attended that rimfire BR match over at Kettlefoot. I was too busy shooting at the time he arrived, and missed the opportunity. I congratulate him on the award.
