Does anyone know if there is a down side to using the HVR model (Hunter Varmint Rifle) triigger, that is adjustable from 1.5OZ-3.5LBS. Compared to the using the standard 1 1/2 oz Benchrest trigger on a Benchrest gun.

Do they perform and feel the same, or is there a difference??

Help!!!

Well I'm no expert but I have several of each and the only difference I can see/feel is weight. Mine are the "rem 700 style" with the safety on top. I guess the other difference is the added cost.

IME they function exactly the same.

I have a HVR (no safety, no bolt release) on my Viper actioned 10.5# 6PPC. It works fine. I have never had a problem with it. I got it because I thought that it might be a little more rugged.

Jewel Rem 700 HVR vs BR trigger.

The only obvious downside of the HVR compared to the benchrest is the cost. You also have to inlet the stock to fit the safety and/or bolt release if you're not repacing a factory trigger. If there's a difference in the quality of the trigger pull I can't feel it. The HVR comes with three springs to cover the range of pull weight.
