JB Weld for Boss Hoss 450

This is a testimonial for JB Weld, and its meant to be.
I have a Troy Bilt snow blower That demolished a connecting
Rod and the side of the crankcase. Seems the motor costs
as much as a new snow blower. Fresh out of Warranty, I
bought a new crank and rod, but JB ed the crankcase back
together( yes, a large window). Its now on its 3rd year. Not
long ago, it was 17 below and held fine. Sits outside all year.
No leaks. It is not used in summer, and therefore probably
never reaches 350 deg F. But then I don't shoot my Br guns
that hot either.

My Toro did exactly the same thing two years ago, but thankfully it still had two weeks left on the warrenty. I like JB Weld just fine too.

J B Weld

The other day I was at a True Value in Key Largo Florida and I was able to buy a box of commercial JB Weld. It contained two 5 oz tubes for $13.00---
First I ever saw it packaged that way.

I did the same thing on my kid's Suzuki four wheeler....... but it really doesn't take much of a load.

Recently, on the other hand, our trash compactor developed a problem of washed out pivot holes such that it would no longer open. I epoxied two washers onto the affected area and it worked perfectly,

for ONE DAY. :)

I moved up to Accra-Glass, my old standby.......

ONE DAY!!!

So I moved on to J-B Weld.

Ground and degreased the surfaces.

Heated the parts AND the room to 80degrees +

And this time she held, for TWO DAYS......

So I started all over but this time I brought out the Big Gun..... Devcon Steel Bed.

It's been three weeks now and still holding.

Toys, toys, lets talk big iron

I bought a used D350C Cat 6 wheel drive 35 ton atriculated haul truck a few years ago. After using it a couple years it developed a small oil leak on the transfer case. Come to find out, after a little steam cleaning, someone patched up a large crack in the side of the case with JB weld. We cleaned it up, put some more on and ran it until something inside let go when a bearing went out and grenaded the whole works. Time for a new case.

Ok Ok, True Story.......

When we moved to MN back in '71 my dad had dreams of being a farmer and he DID follow this up for many years. What I remember though was the hands-on experience of trying to learn to farm with used equipment in a climate that swung through 150 degrees from Summer to Winter. To this day I HATE old iron!!! I hate starting it, I hate maintaining it and I furthermore hate USING it. I want a motor that starts and a mo'chine with enough power to wreck itself.

But this isn't what we had :)

Instead we had old iron.

But, we were easily amused and we found humor in the liddle things....coarse humor, LOW humor of the first order but humor to live with, to survive on.

So I'll always remember this exchange.... I'm 14yrs old.

I'm with my dad and we're in town at the welding yard because the tractor's got a busted case and a new one is out of the question. We didn't have JB Weld then.

We're standing in a group of hardened and blackened men with big hands like rocks, welders. Dad's looking for a good welder,

"I need someone who can really weld, not just any old iron man but somebody GOOD! Somebody who can weld aluminum or stainless or cast..... I need somebody to weld my CockShutt......"

(Read it out loud for full effect)

(linky ;) ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockshutt_Plow_Company it IS for real!

ANYways..... it caught the room by surprise! :D

If'n ya' say it out loud in ANY company it's bound to elicit a reaction of some sort, even the wife might look at'cha crosseyed......

LOL
