Sunday morning brought early rain and WIND!!! In Heavy Varmint 200 Match 1 in the morning wasn't too bad...temp around 55 and moderate winds. By match 2 conditions were becoming (as Billy Stevens would say) a bit sporty!

As the temp dropped the wind came howling in from the north right in our faces. At times I'm convinced it was hitting 50 mph. A few times I actually had to lean into the wind to keep from falling over (seriously)! Gave up trying to weigh charges and if you filled a case with powder and didn't immediately seat the bullet, powder would blow out of the case and spread everywhere. Anything not bolted down ended up in the parking lot! At one point in the afternoon the range officer announced "this will be a 5 shot match at 200 miles per hour"! Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club became a graveyard for daisy wheels.

In Heavy Varmint 200 Allen Arnette delivered a very nice .204 that wound up taking small group. Jack Neary and Don Hardeman were the only shooters that managed to keep all groups under 1 inch with Jack shooting .3428 to win first and Don taking second with .4002. Jeff Peinhardt delivered a consistent performance with only 1 group over 1 inch and landed third with .4003.

In Light Varmint 200 Jeff Peinhardt shot .319 in match 1 to take small group. Jeff shot very well managing to stay under 1 inch along with Jack Neary, Jack winning first with .3216 and Jeff winning second with .3912. Allen Arnette took third with .3945.

In Light Varmint Grand Jack was first with .2845, Jeff Peinhardt second with .2876 and Allen Arnette took third with .3465.

In Heavy Varmint Grand Jack was first with .2733, Don Hardeman was second with .3101 and Jeff Peinhardt third with .3120.

Jack Neary won the 2 Gun with .2789, Jeff Peinhardt was second with .2998 and Allen Arnette third with .3318.

As usual Gil Gross and Mike Jennings ran a fine shoot despite the challenging conditions. Many thanks to everyone at Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club.

Complete results are attached that include day 1 which was previously posted.

I'm sure gusts were 50 mph Steve. We had wind recorded over 50 in Northern Virginia on Sunday (and we're not in the mountains like Roanoke). Sounds like great weekend. Sorry I couldn't make it, but I'll be there next spring.
