J & J Short Slide

I am contemplating the purchase of a J & J short slide to use on my Suhl BR rifle. I have performed a search of this forum and obtained some info however looking for additional thoughts/opinions/experience. As mentioned I have a Suhl with Shilen ratchet barrel and am using a Harrel tuner which I understand the slide screws on to. The rifle shoot fairly well however always looking for more accuracy and consistency. I understand the theory behind the slide is that it reduces the turbulence to the bullet as it exits the barrel - correct?

Any information on how these slides work would be appreciated.

PS: I observed on Dan Killough's website the long slide is not available until June? Does this mean everyone is wanting the long slide vs short and if so why?

Thanks

Re your PS: That was June 2010. A quick call to Dan will discover if any are available for shipment now or not. I suspect you will get one immediately.

I have one of each, long and short that I play with. At first use I thought it would make a difference, after much experimentation I'm not so certain any longer. You won't know if you don't try. Ask Fred Leeds. He has one of the most accurate rifles I have ever seen. I doubt Fred will shoot that rifle without the short noodle attached.

My problem is too many variables in this game. I want to cut back the variables as much as possible in search of excellence. The noodles are infinitely variable, combined with tuner settings, mid barrel tuners with infinite location possibilities etc etc it can get really confusing. Good luck and do let us know if a noodle helps your rifle. bob

I have yet to find a gun that one of James slides didn't help, some only by a few of a thousands but as most of you know many a match is won or lost by just a few thousands of a inch so your only choice will be the long one or the short one my guns like the longer ones
