Good quote, and on point. Yes the Winter Doldrums and Cabin Fever hit early this year. Could result in some more really creative threads.
Here's an off the wall question, which has nothing to do with BR, but relates to your reference of the Bette Davis' film line: When did seat belts become mandatory in US cars?
I beleive the exact quote, from the film All about Eve (1950), is: "Fasten your seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy night."
Good call on 1960's. Doing a bit of looking up, the question might better have been phrased in two parts:
1.) When were seat belts required to be installed in new cars? Answer: According to the site below, that became a Federal Law in 1960's.
AND
2.) When were drivers required to use them? (The use of belts was passed State by State, just like Cell Phone usage laws today). Answer: States followed suit within a few years. But, curiously, at the site below, they indicate seat belts are still not required to be used in New Hampshire ("Live Free or Die"). Apparently, New Hampshire is the only State which never mandated the use of seat belts. You have to be from, or have lived in, New Hampshire to appreciate that.

Earl, I knew some Blondes that got thier foot hung in the steering wheel but it wasn't from trying dim thier lights.....I do agree with you....they have made it very difficult to hold a cigarrette, hold a beer and try to dim your lights, when meeting a car. Geez, what were they thinking, that is one thing they should have left alone.
