Isabella County Sportsmans Club benchrest...

I attended a club match at ICSC last Thursday afternoon. We shot 50 yd. benchrest with classes for both competition and factory rifles. The club has ten good concrete benches and we had enough shooters to almost fill two relays. The competition was fun, friendly and, I found out, not easy to win. These matches are run by two young fellows who are ARA shooters... read "Hardcore". They know how to run a match. We shot two IBS 50 yd. rimfire targets, got (or didn't get) our awards and got home early enough for a good night's sleep.

Matches like this are what keeps the sport of benchrest shooting going. Including a factory rifle class lets a guy who likes to shoot come out and compete with the rifle he has... No need to buy a lot of expensive equipment before you get to shoot. In Harrison, MI we have done this in centerfire benchrest for over twenty years. We now have a long list of shooters who fired their first competitive shot on our range, who decided to get serious about the sport, who bought good equipment and who have now become prominent competitors in the BR world.

Attending and competing in small club matches like this gives one the opportunity to compete without a lot of travel, motel expenses, etc... it's really getting expensive nowadays.

Check www.isabellacountysportsmansclub.com for details. There are two contacts listed who can answer your questions.

Maybe we'll see you at a match.
