i think that blue book value is a bit high. Mark II's are not really 'collectible' per se. I can get new 22/45's for less than $280. if it is a bull barrel, it probably is worth about that to a competition shooter. the Mark II's are simpler internally and easier to modify (read: much less expensive) for competition.

the main advantage of the later models (III and 22/45 is the 1911 style mag release).

i have a conventional target...5 1/2" ss bull bbl.....it shoots well.
the government contract "us" marrked and "government target model" civilain are different than "target" models...., ...6 7/8" bbls, heat treated chambers prior to machining for better tolerances, laser sighted and shot at the factory for a min spec of 10 in 1.5 .
i had never even seen one until today....but some online research has turned up the above data( from the ruger factory).
what i cannot find is blue book numbers on the gun....just for ball park.
i will probably sell my 5.5 and keep this one.
i don't live and die by the blue book. i often tell people to call the author and order a gun when they quote prices.....( i work gun shows most weekends)
i'm just looking for a reference point...qty built and aprox value...
thanks

i bought a 22/45 thinking it would be cheap practice since i had aquired several 1911 based guns.. did not work out well. the gun is very light in the frame making it muzzle heavy...felt unbalenced to me. i paid less than 200 for a like new 22/45 with the scope rail and 2 mags..........
the blue book is a reference....its published and from that date forward one must use it with a grain of salt.....the year obama got elected, the book was out before the elections....the elections made a shambles of ar15 pricing in the book.....

Here is my Govt model - I like it as do all my kids. Shoots pretty good too.

I have never seen a stainless one.

Mike ,
Your right I missed the round after 6-7/8, I find nothing with a round barrel! Might want to check Ruger Colletors Association.

It is a little more desirable than a MKIII.
I have one just like it but had the barrel shortened to 5 inches because it was to nose heavy for me.
They are more rare than some Ruger MK IIs but I wouldn't pay more than $300 for it.
Perhaps in 20 or so years it may show some remarkable value.

some news,,,,
the gun is a
KMK-678G (Ruger catalog 0185)
