im doing load development on a 260. im shooting 142 smk and most of the shooting ive done so far more for me than the gun.

at 100 yds this gun grouped better with hotter loads.

today i moved to 300 yds and it seams to favor the colder loads. is this normal?

Could be a case of compensation due to the bullets leaving the muzzle at higher or lower angles when they vary in velocity.
If so the worst groups would string vertically.
The colder loads may reach the compensation point at 300 yd while the compensation point for the hotter loads is at either a shorter or longer range.
