It's OK..... Dan Knows how to build a rifle....!
"Wheel a deal" who knows, ya might just get it shipped and FFL paid for all around 1K..... It's a buyers market.

What's your goal with this rifle.... Benchrest...?

Dan build quality... Sould be a good starter/learning rifle, It's just the 221 case chambering...? Limited comes to mind... Don't get me wrong, I love the little 221.... 222 would be better........... A rebated 220Russian chambering would be IT! Rebated rim, by this I mean turn the 220Russian brass rims down to .223 diam (.373). Some 133 and a real good custom 52gr bullet and NOW ya got a very competitive Benchrest rifle..!

Yes this would be a learning rifle for me.. What do you mean by the 221 case chambering? and Limited comes to mind? Im not following you.

How do you turn down a 220 russian rims? I have never heard that before.

For a little more you can get a full on custom actioned BR rifle in 6PPC. There was a RBLP Drop Port Viper in the Classifieds for $1500 just a few days ago. You would have been set for life as far as action and stock goes.

Loading a PPC is no different from loading any other cartridge. After you have necked up and turned the necks on new brass it's the same as anything else, just size the fired case put in a primer, powder and a bullet. You can buy preprepped brass.

DanK........the rim of the case (the headstamped end) is turned down in a lathe so that it fits the bolt-face of the rifle.....in this case from a .445" dia.(220 Russian/PPC case) to .373" dia. (.221 FB/ .222/ .223).

BEFORE buying a BR rifle, come to a real BR match....bring your .222 and see the vast array of equipment that's available and what is competitive at today's level............I suspect with the current economy there will be many more good deals up and coming.

On the rebated rim idea. I don't know that it is possible to do safely with the remington bolt face being so deep. I tried it and when I sectioned a case it was too thin. I had a PTG 223 bolt with a Sako extractor that I shortened the bolt nose so that I had .120 bolt recess. I was then able to safely rebate the rims and fire a 6ppc bbl on this action.

I was going to go that route awile ago, but decided not to, after reading that artical on 6mbr.com. It just seemed to much to do to go shooting. I had forgotten that I could buy once fire brass all ready to go. I will check to see how much the brass is first.
