Is the 300WSM consistent enough to have the potential to be

one day the cartridge of choice in the 1K Benchrest shooting? Looking at the 2007 Pennsylvania Heavy Gun Top List to see that six out of ten smallest groups were shot with the 300WSM.
The 300WSM lacks the case capacity compare to the larger 300s cases, but so does the 6MM BR, yet both can win matches.
A lot of 100 smallest groups were shot with the 6MM Dasher.

What are your thoughts on the 300WSM ?

Shoot better

I have a couple rifles chamberedm in 300 wsm, no of which are BR rifles but both are extremely accurate long distances.

The 270 WSM is the exact same case just necked down. I would think more guys would shoot the 270 but I'm sure there's a reason they don't.
The 300wsm has a pretty nasty kick on a hunting rifle.

I think the extremely accurate cartridges like the 6BR and 6PPC in calm weather will always set the group records.
If you look at the over-all picture for the entire year in all conditions the slightly larger cases seem to always come out on top.
At this years 600 yard nationals Cheechako(Ray Meketa) shot a standard 6PPC.When the wind quit blowing he put on a shooting clinic and shot some very good groups. When the wind blew on the other two days he shot like everybody else.
In my opinion you need the most consistent gun for your ranges conditions to be the over-all winner.

Been shooting a light gun in 300wsm since early in 2002...and a heavy 300wsm since late 2002.....seems to be pretty consistant to me:)
