Is The 30 T/C a 30-284?

That's all it is? A 1.920" 308w case?

He does mention body taper changing though.

I just bought a box of new ammo, loaded in 30 T/C from hornady. I'll mic it and see what the dimensions are.

I searched several other posts, and noone seems to have dimensions on it.

Yep, all that hype about a cartridge that has been around for a lot of years, as a wildcat of course.

Ain't it amazin' how revved up the Gunz-n-Blammo set gets about something that Hunter competitors have known for a couple of decades? :D

Like Andy Taylor would say: "Shazam, Gomer". ;)

'Ya gotta wonder.....

I haven't seen any case drawings of the .30 T/C, but just from looking at pictures of the case alongside a .308 it looks to me like a .300 Savage with a longer neck loaded with some special non-cannister powder(s). It's possible to get .308 ballistics from a bolt action .300 Sav with commercially available powders and stiffish loads.

The .30 T/C has a 30° shoulder like the .300 Sav not a 20° shoulder like the .308 too.

OK, Bnhpr, I dug out my lone specimen of the 30 TC and took some measurements.

As Larry said, the shoulder angle is 30, not 20, degrees. The shoulder diameter is .461, far bigger than the 308W case at the same location.

So, to answer your question. No.

Why not talk with some of the HBR shooters like Al Nyhus, Randy Robinett, and Stan Ware. One of them probably has a 30x47, 30x48, or 30x49 reamer, or something close to it, and Stan would probably do the work for you. Of course, it will be a wildcat and you'll have to make brass.

Otherwise you'll have to get a 30 TC reamer, if that's the exact cartridge that you want.

I've not decided the case I want. Hence, the questions. The 30 T/C cartidge looks interesting, that's all. There doesn't appear to be brass/dies/reamers available for it either, but, I'm assuming there will be, as long as it doesn't fade into obscurity with the other fad cartridges.

ps, I was not impressed with the Icon rifle, it's not up to the encore standards as far as I'm concerned. I didn't shoot one, but I was really turned off by the plastic when I handled it.

So what's the difference between the 30T/C and the 308 Marlin Express, besides the rim?

A lot. Shoulder angle, location and diameter. Base diameter.
