IR 50/50 Sporter rules?

I can't seem to get to the rules on the IR 50/50 website. Does anyone have a PDF or word file they could send me with the rules. I'm basically looking for modifications that can be made to a stock for the sporter (7.5) class. I'm having a CZ 452 redone and I don't want to break any rules while doing it. Thanks Jess

Newbie here,

I was just looking for sporter class rules as well, that page is still not working. Hopefully it will back up soon. I wonder if there might be a link to another site that would have them.

Sporter rules

Rifle and scope must weigh 7.50 lbs. or under. Scope must be 6.5 power or under. Variable scopes must be set at the legal power and taped by referee. Rifle must be a repeater and hold 2 or more rounds in a removable clip/magazine except for tubular fed rifles. The clip/magazine must be capable of feeding two or more rounds into the chamber and must be installed in the clip/magazine housing when competing and when rifle is weighed. Rifle must have a working safety. Stock must be made of wood and must be designed to be shoulder fired. Laminate wood is allowed and the action area may contain bedding material. The action may be glued into the stock. Proof that the stock is made of wood is the competitors responsibility and must be accomplished to the satisfaction of the referees when requested. Visible wood grain over the entire surface of the stock shall constitute proof.

Stock must be 2.25 inches or under at its widest point. No stock tape allowed. Forearm and butt of stock that comes in contact with front and rear sandbags must be convex. Minimum length from the trigger to the end of stock, excluding butt pad, must be 12.5. Rifle barrel cannot be fluted. No vibration devices allowed. Barrel must be made out of one piece of metal with no attachments except for the action and a nut to secure the barrel to the action. Sights are only allowed on factory barrels. No electronic or mechanically assisted triggers. Convex will be determined by placing a penny on the stock that comes in contact with sand bags. The outer edges of the penny can not come in contact with the stock. There must be visible space underneath the outer edges of the penny.

The convex wording is under revision for purpose of clarification only. As it turns out, the edges of the penny would touch in at least one plane unless the stock looked like a football.
 
Thanks Wilbur, you're a gentelman and a scholar, and there's only two of us left. ;) I'm new to benchrest competition and I thought the most practical way to break in to the game would be to start in the sporter class. There is at least one range within a couple of hours of here that shoot the IR 50/50 rules. I plan to make it to that range in the next couple weeks to one of thier practice matches.

Hello from central Texas. I shoot IR 5050 unlimited at 4 different ranges in Texas and all the ranges shoot the unlimited only. I suggest you take the time and contact the person listed in the contact section and see what they shoot, before you put a gun together.

Hi graybeard,

What ranges do you shoot? The range I am talking about is in San Angelo.(SAGC)
I did talk briefly with one of the folks listed as a contact but as I remember we did not talk about classes. Probably because I wasn't sure what questions to ask. I will re-contact and get clear on the class structure.

Are there any rules that would prevent me from shooting a sporter rifle in the unlimited class? Competitive no, but it would give me a chance to meet these folks, do some shooting while learning how the matches are run, and decide if this is something I want to do before I spend a substantial sum of money to build a "competitive" BR gun.

Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

You might want to talk with Danny about what best to start off with. He's building a new range in Winter, and also shoots at San Angelo and New Bruanfels. Here is a link to his web site. So the gun must be weight with this clip that hols "2 or more rounds" after the weight in and its time to shoot can you take that clip out and use a single shot mag.? Or what do you do?
