Just finished my first target rifle and was wondering weight limits and the size of group one would have to shoot to not look foolish.
I've never been to a match but would like to try shooting at one.

P.S. My gun ended up at around 17lbs
6x47 lapua 28.5 Bartlein Barrel

Thanks

Not look foolish?

What distance are you going to shoot?
If you don't want to look foolish- you've taken up the wrong sport. We've all stepped up to that line. Myself- I've been there many a time.

I would like to try 600 yards for a starting point.
I use 105 bergers and just would like to practise wiyh a goal in mind.

6x47

H4350 is a good powder to start with. Start with a load in the 37.0 range and move up incrementally until you find where the accuracy node would be. Move in .20 grain increments. I use CCI 450 primers. Seating depth will be somewhere between .010 into the lands or jumped .010.
Your goal should be to shoot sub 2" at 600 yards on a good day. I have seen many relays won with 3" and 4" groups also because of conditions.
If you just got your rifle, you have many hours of load development ahead of you to find the "sweet spot".
Take a look at www.6mmbr.com for more loads and much discussion on the 6x47.
Hope this helps.
