Hi, i am new to AGBR and cannot hit a damned thing. Shot a couple of targets today and had 9 misses on both of them, (scored 125 and 127). I shoot a full power HW77k .22 I set the gun on the front and back rests, hold it very lightly to prevent wobble, but on trigger release the gun jumps all over place. Please can someone tell me what i am doing wrong, do i need to reduce the spring power?

Regards, Makis

Reducing power will help but that type of springer can not be shot free recoil. You will need to experiment with front rest location, and pay attention to it for every shot. You will need to hold onto the gun with as consistent a hold as possible. The front rest should be soft with many folks finding that putting it in your hand will work best.

I found that my 97K was quite hold sensitive. Try shooting with the rest as far back as posible, somewhere near the trigger if the gun will balance with the rest that far back. Have a look at the way the competition (Olympics) freehand target shooters hold their match guns. The front hand is usually a fair way back on the stock and the gun is just resting on the hand, not actually held by the hand, just resting on it. The butt of the gun seems to always have a shoulder "hook" that locks the gun into the shoulder helping to keep evrything the same from shot to shot.
Welcome to one of the most challenging and rewarding shooting sports there is.
Dennis.

Many thanks fellas for your replies, am in the process of building a new stock with an adjustable butt plate, when it's finished i will put your advice into practice.
