Indoor Scores from Salem

Rick Ingraham and I got together at the Salem clubhouse today to shoot a few cards. While we have practiced and tuned indoors a few times, it was the first time either of us have really tried to shoot for score indoors. We took turns shooting off our single indoor bench, each shooting one target at a time. The forced hot air heating system will take some figuring out. Rick's EV-2 was shooting good to start with, but when the heating system shut down on his last target, it was a real eye opener.
Here are our 12fp scores and a couple of pictures:
Rick Ingraham(AA EV-2)
249-10X
247-10X
250-14X
746-34X agg

Todd Banks(CZ200S)
246-9X
245-9X
246-7X
737-25X agg.

It took us almost 3 hrs to shoot six targets off one bench. We had hoped to be able to find the time to open up the wall to the left of the doorway to allow us to add a couple more benches, but I'm just too busy between work and getting my house ready to go on the market. Rick is checking into another club to see if they have more room and will let us do some indoor shooting there.

Sounds like you guys need some wind flags in there;) Seriously though, try some helium balloons suspended off the floor about five feet, that will show you any mild currents.

Always fun to get together and shoot. I'll post a couple of photos of our indoor benches next week. We got portable, folding work benches on sale (Walmart or auto parts) then added a 1 1/2 to 2 inch piece of plywood to the top. Foldable and out of the way. The tapered or rectangular top only needs to be about 2'X3'. This is our staple for testing new pellet lot numbers indoors. Good shooting.

Dan,
I don't think you were there the day I brought the helium tank and balloons to Holbrook. The only time they moved was when we shot them at the end of the match:D. Next time we shoot indoors I'm going to turn on the big vent fan near the target backer in an effort to induce a constant condition.

Mike, I like your bench idea, but the bigger problem is opening the wall. If you look at the second picture, you'll see the 8' of wall space we have between the doorway we shoot through now and the hallway to the bathrooms. Rick and I checked out the spacing between the studs in the wall and determined we could probably get two more benches in that space. The window is going to be a problem, though. You can see in the picture that Ricks scope would be just into the window trim. Can you measure the height of your portable benches?
Thanks,
Todd
