i have a single shot( no gas system) br rifle base on an ar15 action. with no gas system the bolt is operated manually. well it is attempeted to be operated manually. this is the problem i am having..i cannot cycle the bolt on fired cases..its chambered in 6 ppc. the big visual diff in a ppc and a 220 russian case if the body taper. i think the case does not release well in ppc form and with next to no camming in my gun, i have extraction issues. for the 6ppc the obvious choice for me is to go to the 6mm beggs, but what about a 30 cal option ?

is there a competitive 30 with a case head close to that of the 220 russian case and has some body taper ? the issue here is if i stay with 220 russian case head size or so i can build this on an ar15, if i go to a bigger case head i have to move up to an ar10 action which is heavier( and cost more). i all ready have a full on 308 win br which has shot in the 1's, but was trying for a lighter 30 cal rifle.

thanks

30 cal in an AR...

Mike....There is another problem somewhere. It could be any number of things
but I can tell you that my 30 Major is a 30 caliber based on a 6.5 Grendel(ppc boltface) and it works in an AR. In fact, that was my original intention when I started playing with it. You could use it, a 30 PPC, or the 300 Whisper (Fireball case) without rebating rims in an AR. You can PM me and we can discuss it more if you want.---Mike Ezell
