Hi Guys,

Does anyone know of a indoor range in the Mid West that one could shoot 22 rifle at 50 yards?

Dennis, Even if you found a spot with a little shorter distance, that will serve you well.

I don't imagine the range is to friendly right now...

Have a Merry Christmas!

Indoor Range

Dennis, I think you will probably have to settle for our indoor range at the club house. I agree with Denny, I feel you will probably be able to get the rifle up and ready for next spring. I know of none in this area or close by. Any way I want to wish you and yours a merry Christmas and a great new Year, :) See you and denny next spring, Merry Christmas and a Happy New to all the shooters out there......Slim :)

Speaking of indoor ranges, we have a need to build an underground "tube" range at a Southern Maine range...preferably 100 yards long.

Besides the NRA, does anyone know of a resource for plans?

This one is just a very informal Fish and Game Club that has been worrying nearby neighbors and an abutting state park. We'd like to get the noise level down and reduce the danger of unsupervised users ricocheting rounds and causing serious problems for the many hundreds of folks and buildings within a mile or so.

One tube would be adequate for the minimal use to date. It won't be cheap, but we'd like to build something for a hundred grand or less.

I suspect that if the range is built, it will create demand and increase club membership, especially for folks who would like to shoot during the long winter months. I'd even love to build a tube at my club in Augusta.

Test Tunnel

Homer Pearson at Champions Choice in TN had one with TV cameras and automatic Target (Butcher paper cut into short rolls) Paper. I'd be he still has the plans adn I'm sure he still has the concept in his head...

Here's our Indoor Range in Griffin GA.

Good Luck.

Thanks, Don, but the need is for a club range for guys with hunting rifles and handguns. I doubt that all of them could shoot that far without hitting the barrels a few times. It's also to reduce noise, not change it to a metal drum band.

Maybe concrete pipe about 4 feet in diameter would work.

Once it gets buryed in dirt, it becomes quieter and and more bullet proof. Concrete may well be better for strength but the baffles that the drum heads provide, improve accuracy.

I believe that a guy with a 22 target rifle that is sighted in would never in a lifetime of shooting hit the side of your tube in only 50 yards.

If you hit one of the baffles it would probably break up the bullet.

My only question is where did you find that many good barrels so cheap?

Being in the tractor tire business, we went through a barrel of methenol a day. Deposit was 3$ a barrel.
