A friend just sent me this I don't have any details on it besides what is contained here but it looks like just one more back-door way to keep folks from owning firearms.

THEY USE MONEY TO PASS LAWS AND MONEY TO SUPPORT RESTRICTIONS-- Legislative Information System, 705 Stratton Building, Springfield, Illinois 62706.

any person who owns a firearm in this State shall maintain a policy of liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person.

Provides that a person shall be deemed the owner of a firearm after the firearm is lost or stolen until such loss or theft is reported to the police department or sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the owner resides.

Provides that the Department of State Police shall revoke and seize a Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued under this Act if the Department finds that the person to whom such card was issued possesses or acquires a firearm and does not submit evidence to the Department of State Police that he or she has been issued in his or her name a liability insurance policy in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person. Effective January 1, 2010.

Glenn Beck was talking about this a couple weeks ago. His staff could not find a single insurance company in the entire country that would offer such a policy.

cities beware...

Illinois has always been a state of good farmers run by a big, corrupt and dirty city. I feel sorry for the farmers... maybe they should remind the city folk that the don't grow anything but discontent in the city. And that's not very filling. Maybe they should stop feeding the city... or put 500% taxes on their products because of the stupid they have to put up from them...a "stupid" tax..then those tough tough gang bangers could go to the country and try and take food, like they take everything they want in the city...the only difference is the farmers will plant them come sundown. And for some one that's never been away from 24 hour city lights, the country at night is DARK and scary. I live in Oregon now and damned if the cities out here aren't getting the same way...

I've been through Chicago a few times, a few times to many too, and if I never enter that city or the state of IL again it may well be a few years too soon. They can have their crooked politics and politicians along with their stupid and unconstitutional laws.

not yet law

Our wonderful Chicago based legislators try all kinds of stuff. This is nothing more than the most recent attempt. They usually die in committee, since many downstate democrats know better than to support this insanity. This is draft legislation, NOT LAW. On Weds. some 20,000 gun rights supporters will march to the state capitol to show our "lawmakers" we mean business.

This is just another of an endless supply of King Daley gun control nonsense. The guy never stops, that's why Illinois is one of only two states that don't allow concealed carry, the other is Wisconsin. All the little towns around the mother city that had handgun bans have recinded due to Supreme Court decision, but not Chicago, gonna cost the taxpayers and the NRA and the ISRA a lot of money for nothing. This insurance crap will die too, Illinois has too many bigger fish to fry, like Senator Tombstone Burris and state has no money. Thanks, Douglas

Grand American trap shoot

The Grand American was forced to leave Ohio a few years ago & they chose to go to Illinois. This required a change to Illinois law so non-residents could shoot. Since 1968, you need a "firearms owner's ID card" to purchase any ammo.

On one trip back to Illinois, a local news paper said this change in the law was in trouble. Does anyone know how this turned out? Is the Grand really in Illinois?

Regards, Ron

Yes, it's in Sparta, IL, a state owned facility. Funny, as anti-gun as Illinois is they go and build a world class trap range. I don't know about buying ammo, just guessing, you can buy it at the range only without a FOID, a state picture ID will suffice if you are not from Illinois. I know if you are a non-resident they give you a pass for shooting and transporting. But low and behold, if you are resident you better have a FOID in your pocket. Thanks, Douglas

Douglas,
I grew up not far from Rockford. A few years ago, I was back visiting my elderly parents & a coon had taken up residence on the property. The Hardware store owner, who had known me all my life, would not sell me a box of 22's to shoot the coon because I didn't have an FOID.

I left Illinois when I went into the army in 1972 & would not consider moving back - No jobs, high taxes, punitive laws. An Obama want to do the same for all the US.

Obama doesn't spend money like a drunken sailor - drunken sailors spend their own money!

Regards, Ron

I know, crooks, chisters and gangsters, but I been here all my life and what would I do without the White Sox? Thanks, Douglas

Grand American in IL . .

Yes, the Grand American is in Illinois, Sparta. . :( Of all the good places that they could have gone they chose that state, the most restrictive gun state in the Union. I am a ATA Life Member, and have attended the Grand several times in the past few years, but I will never go back to it again in IL. The venue is too big, and no way to get around unless you pay for a Golfcart at $50 a day or better, or drive and try to get a parking place someplace near your range. There is no people mover carts like they used to have at Vandallia. The Central Handicap building is at one end of the trapfields, not in the middle like they used to be. The state Reps. had to over turn a Veto from the Gov. to make it so that you could buy ammo at the shoot and at Wal-mart, you have to have a valid ATA card to buy it, other wise you have to have a FOID card. The Police Presence there was overwhellming, wow, everytime you turned around there was a state policeman, people complained, but it is a State Department of Natural Resources Facility, so the Police have to be there, don't trust people with guns . .:eek::eek::eek: One of the things that they did do was to allow RELOADS to be shot at the Grand, that was a FIRST, used to be that when you signed up for an event, you paid for 4 boxes of ammo at the same time, not now, they just gouge you for the event. It used to be a fun place to go to shoot, now it is just a MONEY Shoot. . . .

Illinois gun law.

L:ets hope The NRA challenges this one. Several suits have been filed
On other restrictive laws. Time for illinois to get rid of those guys,
ILLINOIS Wake UP.

Illinois and Wisconsin, the only two. It'll never change as long as King Daley is alive, the only way he is going to leave office is feet first, just like his daddy. Thanks, Douglas
