IBS stopped sanctioning rimfire matches with that target at least 4 years ago. The intent at that time, was to bring it back some time in the future.

If you want to be in step with present match happenings, get targets from ARA, RBA, IR-50/50, ARG or USBR. Your choice should be dependent on the target that clubs near you are using. If you are far from other clubs that sanction matches your might consider the USBR target, and shoot in the RFC On-Line-Matches. (Postal Matches with the speed of the internet)

Here is a sales pitch for the USBR Target: In lots of 250 or more, the USBR target sells for less than 15 cents per target from the printer. Cost of shipping can sometimes be almost as much as the targets. BUT: American Target in Colorado charges nothing for shipping if you are in the business district of your town. 50 cents if you live in the suburbs or country. That seems to be a well kept secret.

Color . . .

Several years ago the USBR officers did an experiment with red, blue and green targets. Green was their choice. Seems an eye doctor told them that green would give best visual accuity.

Joe: At Salisbury Gun Club we use the green IBS target for our monthly rimfire benchrest shoots. About 20 or so shooters. We do not allow wind flags (thats gonna change I think), no tuners, must be a factory configuration rifle, no one piece rests etc. We shoot the targets at 50 Meters. Easy to see, somewhat easy to shoot a 250 (several per shoot unless its really blowing). Personally I find it easier to shoot this one with a 25x scope than with a 36 or higher, but thats me.

No one has ever complained about the green color in our conditions. We shoot it from 9AM to about noon one Saturday a month. Lots of guys practice with them all the time. At this range we shoot south to north. I say go for it and give them a try. bob finger
