I ain't a rimfire shooter, but photos added

Went to the range today to shoot 2 recent additions. A Remington Mod37 that belonged to Mike Walker and a Martini International built and rebarreled by Karl Kenyon.
The Martini had Redfield International iron sights. The trigger felt as good as any Jewells that I own. I used the 100yd. hunter targets. The front sight was a circle and we could use it to capture the largest ring of the hunter target. We used no flags and the wind was light. I shot a .500 group and Randy Conder shot 4 in one small hole with one out about .300. I am a very happy guy.
The Mod 37 had a 8x Lyman jr. Super Target Spot. I could not see the crosshairs or dot. I shot a .500 group all horizontal. Randy was smart enough to adjust the eyepiece and shot a .300 group. I shot another seeing the crosshairs. Had 4 in a very small knot and 1 about .250 to the left that I knew I pulled.
The trigger in the Remington is not as good as the Martini.
Needless to say, I am a very happy guy.

Butch, be careful if you think centerfire is addictive, wait till you really shoot rimfire......

Butch tanks for the range report!! It was unclear to me about the yardage, i'm thinking you were shooting 50 yards? The Walker '37 is a fine rifle! I don't think i have seen a pic of your Martini.
I really enjoy rimfire shooting, I just wish i knew why, lol. joe

Thanks for the report on your two new rifles, especially the 37. I shoot centerfire score mostly but do have a 37. I've shot it in 4 club shoots so far this year, one at 200 yd, and enjoy it very much. There is just something about owning and shooting these 60-70 year old superb works of craftsmen, topped by an old Unertl, Lyman, Fecker or Litschert, that is hard to explain. --Greg

Re the Martini??

The one i shot would eject spent cases 10 yards or so, I've never seen anything eject like that "mature" rifle. Does yours do that too?

Butch,
I mean no disrespect but I've heard that any interested competitor can shoot a centerfire rifle descent or better............but only the best can make a rimfire shine. Just something I heard. You'll have to try it at a match and see.

I'm sure you are right John. Being as these are a long way from being BR rifles, I doubt that you will see them at a match. Man, these things are to shoot well at your local club. You know what I mean!!

Butch i really like your Walker 37, maybe one day i will see it in person -just a great rifle and a super piece of history. If i was Bill Gates i would own that rifle -but then you would be Bill Gates and proly buy it back, lol. Have you posted the pics that show the complete rifle on this site? ..and how about a pic of the ugly Martini, lol. I saw one at a gun show, ok not ugly but looked like something a Quigly might shoot- joe

Ive seen those Martinis shoot perfect scores down here, apartantley in their time they won plenty of medals at Olympic Level.

A guy on my college team shot a Martini---you didn't want to stand in back of him, those empties would go 15 ft back!

This is my Martini MK11 built by Karl Kenyon. The stainless barrel is by an unknown barrel maker.

One of these days I'll put a scope on it if I don't have to modify it.

Too late he is already on the slide to the dark side.
Butch, I've had a hankering for a Martini since the 70's and finally got my hands on one about a year ago.Not as nice as yours. Mine was already drilled and tapped for short scope ( that put it in my pocket range) Hangs right in with the 70's vintage Annie 54 and 60's vintage Walther KKM. I let them snuggle together.

Blades,
Yours may well have been D&T by Freeland for use of his tube sights and not a modern scope. Freeland did this with many new guns as he got them and before shipping out.

Butch,
Very nice rifle indeed. The butt stock is a MK-V or ISU and looks excellent. You already have a block on the receiver so you can mount either traditional long tube or modern scopes

Thanks for sharing photos of fine firearms. Its always a pleasure to view "good" guns.
Better yet is sound like they realy shoot.
