Howard Dietz is seriously ill in New Braunfels, Texas. Howard was one of the original Texas wild bunch of benchrest. They partied, shot, drove extraordinary distances in unsafe vehicles and made an indelible mark on Texas benchrest. It was a time of larger then life characters, expansive personalities and Texas swagger. Howard fit right in. He was a natural. Now he lies in a hospital bed and perhaps wonders "was it worth it?" This is your chance to do good and answer that question. Send Howard a card, letter or better yet chip in for a hooker.

Sorry to hear that...

Howard is one of the "Texas Good Guys". He was a good NBRSA Director and a good auctioneer too.
He did a great job back in the late 70's and 80's running calcuta's at the Nationals in Midland.
Get well soon Howard.
 
A True Legend of This Sport

Howard Dietz told me a few stories about the early days of Benchrest. He told me how and when the Dietz range at New Braunsfels,Tx got built. This is sad news.

I hope he pulls through this little set back.

One of the Best....

While Howard is very ill...here's hoping he'll recover and be the same laid back great guy he always was. We all looked forward to the annual Blue Bonnet match each May at his range. He is part of the old school New Braunfels folk who speak softly and do great things.

We all hope a speedy recovery for him, and hope to see that old Stetson behind the desk again very soon.
