HovisKM where are you?

HovisKm,
A couple winters back you posted some pics of a range you were building in southern Indiana and asked about what rimfire sanctioned matches were most popular in the area. Have you finished the range and have you considered running matches? Southern Indiana has lost three ranges in the last few years for various reasons but the community is somewhat open to new ranges and more opportunities to shoot. I just wondered where you stood on that project and what your future entailed.

I don't think he has finished it yet. He had a minor distraction when his home burned down. I think getting a new home built has been his top priority.

MarkHarp,
I didn't realize the troubles HovisKM has had. I agree that the most important thing to start and finish would be the home. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Insurance claims and loss of irreplaceable heirlooms and pictures never equal what you had to start with.

Hello,

Carp, thanks for keeping it on your mind.

I never would have thought that this adventure would take so many turns. Anyway, the range is still on going. With the new interestate being built (I69) just a few miles away, every contractor with a tonka truck and above has been working on it. So after a year or two of having a hard time getting equipment to show up, I bought my own dozer and backhoe. Currently, I am finishing up the range road, it's 95% done (over 3/4 mile long). Needed it to get of the concrete trucks in. Most of the land work is completed and should be pouring the platform, setting benches (tops already done), and overhead cover (wood bought and on site) by the end of May.

I have major wrist surgery coming up on the 5th of March and that may slow things down a bit. The wife and I are going to shoot this weekend and then the shamrock. After that, I'll probably take a hiatus from matches until June so I can get work done.

If the goverment don't do something about this budget issue, I may have an extra day or two a week to get work done as they will probably start Furloughs....I don't look at that as being a bad thing...I need the time.

Happy Shooting,
Kevin Hovis
