"Hotter Than Hell"

Doug Penttinen

"TESTED TEXAS TUFF"
Well it was true to saying that it was "Hotter Than Hell" for the 2009 match in Denton.
Saturday morning started out at about 80 degrees and 85% humidity, the mosquitos were not bad but the biting flies were a pain in the A$$ for those of us who wore shorts. It ended up being about 98 in the shade for both days of shooting and the humidity droped to about 25-30% by afternoon time. You could hear the poweder clicks going up and down.
The winds were not bad at the start but it was out ouf the S-SE or S-SW or S or W. I think you get the picture. I believe we had about 32 brave sole's to shoot to start things off which I thought was a pretty good turn out. We all knew it would only be a matter of time before the real day would start once the wind picked up, which it did. Although it managed to lay down in-between matches.
I do not know all of the end results which Jon or Vic may post after this, I am going to put up some pictures as well.
I do know that Ron Parks was busy shooting tiny .1"s
Mike Stinnet needed to borrow the Shilen trailer to get all his wood home on Sunday
My buddy Gary Walters with the combination from Tomball took home the whole bag of marbles plus the traveling trophy
Vic took home some wood which is Garys shooting buddy
Bill Hull, Mikel & Wade Hull shot well
There was also a couple of new faces in the crowd, one was a transplant from California who moved to Austin. He shot very well, There was a new-B from Shilen who put on a great show for his very first registerd match. He even got the bottle of bubbly sprayed all over him at the end from Dr. Tim O
Joe Kubon took home some wood as well.
I need to mention Curtis Helton acomplishments on getting the "Train Wreck/Melt Down " award for not taking the weight out of his gun for the LV match. HONEST MISTAKE right Curtis? and he was shooting really well

There was alot of tear jerk shots as well, the ol- 4 and one syndrome was attacking many of us during the course of the two days.

So it all in all was a great time, great BBQ both days, great shooting by eveyone and the 4-H target crew did a good job

I would like to thank Jerry Stiller for mentioning how we all missed and will miss Bob Estes at the match and matches

Well I can see I pasted the pictures the wrong way so they would Not all be open... Rats.
