Hornady Classic Lock n Load SS Press & Dies Variations

The only problem I see with the Hornady Lock and Load presses is that you'll need a set of their adapters for every set of dies you'll use. The Hornady dies all have 7/8-14 threads like everyone else's dies so that they can work in other people's presses. If you don't mind having to buy the adapters for every set of dies you'll use go ahead. If you'll be installing the one set of adapters on all your dies, you're not gaining anything over anyone else's press that uses screw in dies.

Larry, what you gain is not having to reset your dies everytime you change calibers, if you get a set of bushing per die set, you just lock and load, lots of different die sets, alway adjusted the same as last use, quick change between dies without the trouble of having to reset,,,,,,,

I never have to reset my dies when I change calibers with my presses either. I screw the dies down into the press until the paint mark on the lock ring lines up with the paint mark on the press and I'm done, even with an O-ring under the lock ring. Some dies are only used in a Partner press and some only in a Rockchucker, and the die boxes are marked in case I can't remember which never happens with me....

I can see that the Lock and Load system would be faster to change dies with, but other than not having to screw the dies in and out of the press I don't see a big advantage. Maybe the few extra seconds it takes to unscrew or screw in a die isn't that big a deal to me. At my age I've wasted so much time that a little more isn't going to cause much more damage. :D
