Paul,

Thanks again for running such a fine match and for letting me sit in on a couple of the second relays targets to help do some work-ups. I discovered a lot thanks to your being so kind.

See you all next weekend at Pinnacle, that is if the snow isn't too deep.

Happy New Year

Dave

Thats some pretty good scores on the world target.

Thanks Larry,

But you have to keep in mind that we're shooting Indoors, which means it's all about finding the right tune for your equipment, then matching the right pellets to it. Other than that, it's basically a point-and-shoot game.

Ah, but all good things must come to an end, and so will ours as next week we're taking our act back Outside to face the elements, which at this point in time are looking very interesting as snow is supposedly going to be moving in sometime late Thursday and continuing on through all day Friday and into Saturday. So we will see what happens then, if it happens at all.

I didn't mention in my earlier post just how impressive Dan Brown's win was, or should I be saying: wins always are. What you need to keep in mind when reading his scores is that he's shooting a highly modified FX Independence, meaning that after each and every shot he has to lift his gun off the rest, give it a pump or two, reposition it back onto the rest, re-aim it, then take the shot while the rest of us are just sitting there with our guns all nicely nestled into their bags with their only disruption being when we load another pellet. Another thing, I for example am using one of Kenny Fulghum's front rests which I have spent nearly a grand on between buying it, then modifying it to my likings, while Dan on the other hand is sitting next to me using an old rear bag sitting on top of a wooden block for his front rest (shown in the first of the pictures above), and he continually cleans my clock.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Congratulations Dan! But, wait 'til next time???

Thanks Dave, I think I was just lucky Saturday, I really didn't expect to score that well with the new tube at sub 20fpe.
I spent most of the day tethered to a scuba tank Sunday and went through at least half a tin. I played with the new tube at about 35fpe and at fifty yards shot five consecutive five shot groups that averaged .34".
I'm having terrible problems maintaining a consistent velocity at the sub 20fpe level though. The scuba tank and regulator maintain a very consistent pressure but even so my velocities over 30 shots have been varying by up to 30fps. I made a new exhaust valve seat tonight with the hopes of bringing the sd down a bit. I've also played with different shooting pressures and hammer weights and nothing has worked so far. If I can't get the sd down I'll probably put the .177 back on for the shoot on Saturday.

As I said before about Dan's gun: Highly Modified!!!

Don't hold your breath on Saturday happening as it's looking more and more like a whiteout, but I'll let you know for sure as the time draws closer.
