High Standard M-106 Victor Pistol

I recently bought a used High Standard M-106 Victor .22 LR pistol. While cleaning it I noticed a small (mystery) coil spring that seemed to have the 2 sear spring legs for the adjustable sear spring coming up through it. The coiled spring and sear spring are visible from the top down below the sear when the slide is removed.

The coil spring does not extend above the trigger pressure adjustment rod notch. The other end of the coil spring is out of sight somewhere below and forward of the sear. The coil spring does not appear in any parts diagram for the pistol and I would like to know its purpose and its value to the operation of the pistol.

HHJim,

As the owner of an older High Standard pistol, not the Victor model, I have found the best two fellows to turn to for help are "LDBennett" and "SGVictor" on the rimfirecentral.com forum. There is a "High Standard" sub-forum on rimfirecentral.com and both these fellows are quick to respond to questions. "SGVictor" is John Stimson who is one of the formost authorities in the world if not the formost authority on the High Standard Victor gun... Its John you want to contact and on the rimfirecentral.com High Standard forum is the best way:

The factory parts book(Issure no.3 -june 1 1977) does not list a Victory in a M-106. Victor models 104 & 107 have an extra spring compared to the 106. Its part #10476, named "Sear spring leg reainer." Looks like all it would do is keep the legs together of part #10475. One leg of spring #10475 could be cut/remover for lighter trigger pull if i remember correctly.
