I recently bought a used High Standard M-106 Victor .22 LR pistol. While cleaning it I noticed a small (mystery) coil spring that seemed to have the 2 sear spring legs for the adjustable sear spring coming up through it. The coiled spring and sear spring are visible from the top down below the sear when the slide is removed.
The coil spring does not extend above the trigger pressure adjustment rod notch. The other end of the coil spring is out of sight somewhere below and forward of the sear. The coil spring does not appear in any parts diagram for the pistol and I would like to know its purpose and its value to the operation of the pistol.
