Hi im new on this forum, and i have tryed several times to reply to a thread and typed in a big long reply and when i went to submit the reply was loged out and lost everything i typed in ????

First of all, when you do get logged out, you can log back in & post what you've written. You're given the prompt to log in again & it leaves you right where you were before you were logged out.

The log out thing is something you need to manage, so the better way to post mail is to click on that go advanced button down the right bottom of the screen, then regularly preview what you're writing by using the preview post button hidden down the right just off screen. As long as the software recognizes that you are still active on the site, it won't log you off.

Yeah, I know, why it doesn't recognize that you're still there when you're typing I just don't know.

Also,

Somewhere in here, maybe the settings section is a button that you can click that allows you to stay logged in. I never log out, even when my computer is off, when I turn it back on the site recognises me and I am logged in automatically.

Another thing worth thinking about...If you know that you are going to be writing a long post, you might consider composing it in a word processing program, and then copying and pasting it into the composition space of what ever forum you are posting on. If there is a problem, you will still have your post, and you can try again.

This problem is not unique to BR Central. It happens on other sites as well. I have yet to see an administrator or moderator who can explain exactly why it happens although some have figured out ways to cure it. It also sometimes happens when trying to edit a long post.

What to do?

1. Tell the Administrator. Maybe he can fix it or tell you how to fix it.

2. Type long posts on a word program and paste it in.

3. A quicker version of #2 above. Before you hit the "Post" button, select and copy. Then if it disappears you can paste it back in and try again.

Yeah that's right, whenever I do a long post I do it in Word first, then copy it to BRC. Word checks spelling, and grammer errors. I guess that's why I make less speeling mistakes on my longs post than I do on short posts.
