OUCH!!! That's got to hurt. That's a real bummer Dan, if they can't get you one in time you can use mine.

Regards,
Joe

Thanks Joe that is generous of you. I will see about getting another expedited to me tomorrow. I can't imagine how it happened, the gun was shipped in a flambeau hard case inside a cardboard box. There was no sign of damage on either container. The stock is very thick in the grip a area too.
I was able to play with the gun a little. So far I can see that the trigger will need some help. I'm not sure that I like how the barrel is held at the muzzle too, if the collar is not exactly lined up with the barrel it will apply a lateral force to it. I do like the one piece breech though.

Gee i hope mine ends up in better shape when we fly over for world champs, i have the same air rifle.

Boy I hate to fly with my camera equipment, I think it would be more stressful with my gun. I hope everyone makes it here ok.

It is always best to separate the barreled action from the stock when shipping. Those ups, fedex, usps drop tests are very destructive. Hard case is fine but bubble wrap the 2 sections inside separately and then together. Every time I see this I am reminded of of a cartoon or something where the agent stamps fragile on the package and crushes it. settlement of claims can sometimes be a trying and drawn out process. Took 6 months on the last one with usps, it was settled for the full amount and I got to keep the pieces.

I had a friend get an Anschutz the same way came from Arizona, no marks on the box any where!
It took UPS 4 weeks to accept responsibility, then a year to get a replacement stock, the work done by an Anschutz dealer (insisted on by UPS) tested and shipped back!

That's gotta be one of the biggest BUMMERs of all time!... Be sure to tell the seller that your planning on using it in the worlds, and to get that replacement ASAP!... and you want to keep the pieces for spare parts:)

I'm glad LD and I are driving, (even if it's all the way from Oregon for me).... what a worry to be thinking about your rigs either missing a plane transfer or getting messed up by a shipper.. There is plenty of other stuff to worry about...
Good luck and plan ahead for ANY potential problems..

So, I take it the wife isn't too happy with her new $2000 gun? If there's anything I can do let me know, and if things take too long to have it back before the Worlds you can borrow my MPR if needed.

Thanks Dave. I should have a replacement by Saturday.
Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that a laminated stock should not have all the lamination's with the grain oriented the same. The split happened right along the grain, if the grain were alternated 90 degrees like plywood I can't imagine that it would have happened.

Stock

It is hard to be leave but it is not that uncommon in 10M rifles with similar stock . My birthday - father day present is going back to-moral for the same thing . Evanix Rainstorm
I am doing a lot of work on putting together my US made 20 fpe. rifle . I wish I could get a US made barrel .

Seems sensible, what you say about grain .... but its not an unusual design error from stockmakers with cost and appearance first policy. Also, I have always advocated shipping guns with the stock seperated from the action, rather than (after the fact)?

Well I got a replacement Saturday. There will be a learning curve with the new gun. So far I've made some of my tightest 25m groups with it. Have a look, it has produced quite a few of these five shot groups at 25m,

One thing that I noticed, when I removed the air stripper the point of impact moved down 2 inches at 25m.
