Help!!!

I have had my BAT mod M for three years now. I have six bbls for it.......all pretty much shoot to the same point of aim. I switched to a leupold scope 40 x 45 this spring, and have shot all tubes at 300 and some at 100, 600 and 1000. I went out on tuesday PM to try out some new loads, dialed down from my 1000 yard zero to my 400 yard zero and was 4 feet high at 400 yards.

I just switched out 4 different tubes and did the "50 yard bore sight at a pickup across the street off of my parts counter" thing, which has always been my system.

Looks like I am 1 1/2 to 2 feet high with all 4 tubes and the scope bottomed out!!!!

I shot the gun at Pella twice and Harris once with the same setting. I have not tryed to shoot at 1K again, but it is obvious things are way out of wack!!! I am positive I never bumped the scope, and checked the cross hairs....when I dial, they move.

Also, there are no marks on the scope other than the slight ring marks that have been there for a while.

WHAT - N- L HAPPENED. I guess I can switch out scopes and see how it looks.

The worst part is i am flying out to AZ tomorrow and am driveng back with my kids....the day after I get back it is off to the Iowa Championships.

Any Ideas????

Probably one of 2 possabilities. My first guess would be the scope base bedding if you have screw on bases. Check the scope base screws for looseness.

My second guess would be a scope gone bad. You can change scopes and run through the test again.

The only scopes I have here at the moment has 75 - 90 moa of adjustment. My 12-42NSX NF is on its way PD hunting in the western part of the state. I tried the 8.5-25 LRT and have lots of "down" left in my scope, but it has double the adjustment of my 40x Leupold comp..

OK....I lied.....I have another 12-42BR NF on my HG, but REALLY don't want to screw with it....I will be rushed enough next week without having to re sight in my HG.

Just checked my bases....very tight.

If it is a bent scope (which I am leaning towards), and I am able to get it on at 1k, would YOU shoot it at a state match???

Call Leupold and tell them your dilemma. I have heard that Leupold has good customer service and you don't know what they can do for you if you don't ask.

Absolutely, wouldn't bother me in the least. Bent scopes shoot just fine. However, if the internals are broke, that's a different story and that won't work out very well.

I would not be afraid to change scopes and then go to a relay to shoot. As long as visibility isn't horrible, like raining. So, swapping out the other NF you have is not a bad option till you find out what's wrong with the Leupold.

As a side note, it's pretty difficult to bend a scope. I seriously doubt you'd do it by accident and not know you did it. The gun would have to take a pretty tough spill on the scope to do that.
