I was looking at buying a rifle in .260 AAR, and was wondering if anyone had any experience or insight on this cartridge.

How easy is it to load? How many resizing/fireforming steps do I need to do before case is ready for accuracy, etc.?

Capable accuracy? Barrel life?

Thanks again.

My .260AAR is very accurate and easy to load. The easy way to load it is to neck up .257 Roberts brass and this is a one step operation in a .260AAR die. You then fire form the cases with a mild load of powder like 4895. I like to seat the bullets jammed into the lands when fire forming. This is all there is to it. Make sure the gunsmith chambers the rifle with a slight crush fit on the brass--he will know what I'm talking about. Barrel life will be very good and is similar to the 6.5 Swede in this respect. This is a hunting round and not a BR cartridge, but mine has shot many groups in the 3's. Accuracy will depend on barrel quality and the chambering job done by your 'smith. This round will very easily do 3000 fps with a 120g bullet without excess pressure. The main and only drawback is the cost of the dies. It has the "cool" factor meaning wherever you shoot there probably won't be anyone else with one. Field performance will be just under the 6.5-284 with a lot less recoil.
