I recently bought a 222 Rem BR outfit that included a chucking reamer that has been ground to .2229. The previous owner is ill with ALS and the chap that sold the outfit knows very little about the outfit. Any ideas what it might have been used for? I have checked the SAAMI spec but can't see where it might have been used IAW that daigram.

IAW=if anywhere?

IMO the chucking reamer was probably used to clean up the inside of the necks prior to outside neck turning.........
or for thinning necks when making brass from other , larger cases,
or, there was an era when inside neck reaming of cases was considered useful for adapting to fitted necks.

Any road, there is NO/ZERO/NADA use for a chucking reamer in anything related to SAAMI chamber specs.
It is NOT and never was meant to touch barrel steel.
