Hello to everyone and I must say thank you all for this AWESOME INFORMATION HERE My name is Brandon Jennings, I am 35 yrs old and FINALLY someone has opened up a very nice Range here close to home. For the last several years I have wanted to find such a location to get involved in Bench Rest Shooting, but most ranges were too far and I thought I would not get the opportunity to dedicate myself to the range the way I would like, due to the inconveinence. But now the range is only 20 min away and these folks have set up a very nice facility. The range is a 300 yd max with all distances acessible from any Bench. They are holding one match each month and so far these are Centerfire and Rimfire matches. Today was my first exposure to an actual shoot as I only stood back and enjoyed watching and learning what takes place. However I did meet some very informative people who have already set me in somewhat of the right direction. Mr. Richard Milton was there, and I really enjoyed speaking with him, he also put me in contact with Mr. James Mock who writes for Precision Shooting. My appreciation goes out to these guys for their time and generosity. Just knowing the right people makes it so much easier to get information, I learned that there are more opportunities around than I thought. I am pretty much centraly located in La and learned today of several other shoots that I could attend with a little planning
I will be reading as much information as I can consume to try and learn the sport. I will be joining the NBRSA as soon as I get my ducks all in a row here. But first things first, I am in the market for a centerfire Bench Rifle and I have many decisions to make on this choice. I will try to locate myself a nice used package if possible. For now I will only be shooting in the Rimfire Class and the Centerfire with my current guns in Hunter Class.
I am not in a huge rush for this, I do want to get going as soon as possible but Im not going to just rush out and buy the first thing that comes along, especially until I get some knowledge of what to look for. So I will be here in the forum whenever I get time and I do look forward to being an active member here. I will have many, many questions I am sure, so please excuse my ignorance for a little while anyhow
