In the near future I'll be ordering a helical thread insert kit to fix a takedown screw hole in a rifle that I successfully stripped (got Devcon into the screw hole and the screw bottomed out).
The question in my mind is this- would it be a bad idea to go ahead and put the same helicoil inserts in my Suhl? The reason would be convenience. I'm putting 1/4x28 inserts into the rifle that needs work, and it is much easier and cheaper to find 1/4x28 screws as opposed to the 6x75mm screws that the Suhl uses. The Suhl definitely isn't broke and thus doesn't need fixing, however is the convenience of using readily available screws worth putting helical inserts into the receiver? This is important to me because I'm going to be working on a couple of stock patterns for the Suhl this spring/summer and getting a few custom made screws wouldn't be cheap.
For the record, here's the kit I'll be using:
