Heavy/Long Barrel without Beadding Block?

I'm looking to convert a Nesika J 13.5lb Benchrest rifle to a varmint shooting rig. Bolt face handles PPC and BR. I've already filled butt of stock with epoxy/lead combo, so weight with 22" barrel is approaching 25 lbs, and now I seek to put the heaviest/longest barrel (chambered in 20BR) I can get away with...but without a bedding block, I don't know how heavy is too heavy for this action, which is screwed AND glued in. My goal is to chamber a spead-demon and go with a 28" or 30" tube, and maybe a straight 1.25" tube, but would cut down if accuracy isn't where I'd like it (if I can't live in the 2s and 3s (with any varmint gun) I'm not happy). But reason is telling me a 26" HV tube is as heavy as I'd want to go without a bedding block, but I don't know???

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

In the past, my brother had a 29", 1.25" straight barrel chambered for 6.5 x 284 installed on a Viper aluminum action. It worked just fine and shot lights out. Your rig should work just fine.

I`ve done long (32") 1/1/4" straight barrels both ways..... barrel block and pillars/screws.... barrel blocks are much better because you hold the gun at the balance point and action/screws are not stressed.....

I don't think that there will be any problem with long heavy barrels w/out the block. Here is my Dasher with Brux HV barrel that is 28 inches long. It shoots great. James
