Can more headspace increase pressure when fired I have 2 6.5-284s one with the least headspace will take more powder.

headsapce is a characteristic of the rifle....the length of the chamber for a semi rimmed case, from a data point on the shoulder of the case.

if you load the same for two different chamber lengths, then the shorter is probably gonna have more pressure.

you need to explain your question a bit.

I would think the differences in headspace are so slight as not to make any difference. If they are you need a new gunsmith. More than likely it's differences in barrels, seating depth in relation to the lands, neck clearence, how many rounds are thru the barrel, how much carbon is in the throat and probably a few more things.

Thanks, for the responses. My light gun is a Rem with Bartlien barrel. My HG is aStoole F class action with Bartlein barrel. Both were chambered using the same reamer. The HG gunsmith, Warner Tool co, headspaces a little more than.000 and a little less than .001. The LG I am sure has more headspace, done by a different gunsmith. The HG will shoot with .5 gr more powder without sticky bolt lift.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I here that question about 10 times a year. Never figured I could do anything about it so I never tried to figure out the whys and what for's.

Marion, the real difference you're seeing isn't the headspace, it's the barrels themselves. Even if they were made consecutively, they will differ enough that a 0.5 gr. load adjustment (or even more) might be called for. Just tune each one to what it likes.
