Hey Rob,
I was just about to check with you to see if you were still planning on making the trip. Weather looks good so far. Projected to be 73 deg. W/only 10% chance of rain.

See Ya then!

Rick

P.S. Directions and GPS coords. are on the website here http://www.wv1000yd.com/Directions___Contact.html for anyone thinking about making their first trip.

All the plans as of now are to be there. You need me to bring laptop and printer or no?

Rob

What time do entries close, as I and another shooter plan to make the trip this weekend?

Danny

Rob,

We're all set with laptop and printer. ( I do have some questions about possibly adding a few things to the spreadsheet for next year though).

Danny,

We'd like to have registration complete by 9:30 so we can start running the names for the relays.

Driving Instructions:

I-79, Exit 137 -- Downtown Fairmont.
Take Rt. 310 North to Stoplight at McDonalds.
Turn Left at Stoplight and Drive 1.2 Miles to Third Stoplight and Turn Right Across Jefferson St. Bridge.
Drive 0.3 Miles to Third Stoplight and Turn Left Onto Jackson St.
Drive 0.1 Miles to Second Stoplight and Turn Right Onto Rt. 250 North. Drive 7.2 Miles to Stoplight at Farmington.
Turn Right on Rt. 218 North.
Drive 6.0 Miles to Stop sign and Turn Left on Rt. 218 North.
Drive 0.7 miles and Continue Straight onto Miracle Run Road at Dairy Mart. Drive 1.4 Miles on Miracle Run Road. Harry Jones 1000 Yd. Range is on the Right. Across From Loveridge Mine.

Basically, find your best way to Fairview, WV (Marion County). Once in Fairview, find the Dairy Mart (there's only 1 :D ) and head out of town on that road. The range is on the right. Shoot me a PM or email if you want to meet me along the way and you can follow me in.

Rob

Rick,

Is there a street address that I can put in the GPS unit, as mine does not take coordinates of Lat & Long. Something that I didn't realize until a week later.

Directions

Danny

Just use GPS to get you to Fairview and then stop at the Dairy Mart and ask for directions to the Loveridge Mine entrance. It's about 2 miles north on Main St/Miracle Run Rd/Crossroads Rd (same road just different names)

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=F...e=39.592499&longitude=-80.247803&geocode=CITY

Hopefully the link above works. Just follow the main road west out of Fairview, labeled Miracle Run Rd if the link works right. You'll see the entrance to Loveridge Mine on the left and the range is right across the road on the right. If you cross into Monongalia County you done gone to far!

Rob

Danny,

If you GPS unit lets you do the intersection of 2 roads, use Main street and Jefferson street in Fairview WV 26570. This would take you to the Dairy Mart which is just before the fire dept. Continue on this road about a mile and a half. You'll notice the speed limit change from 25 to 45 then you'll see the entrance and guard shack for Consol Energy Loveridge mine protal on your left and our sign is immediately across the road to your right.

We may have someone meeting some other folks at a McDondalds just off the I-79 exit 137 Saturday morning. If you feel more comfortable following someone in, just let me know and I'll get some more details.

Rick

Edit: Rob said this earlier, but if you can just get to Fairview it ain't that big. I checked my GPS and it will let me navigate to a "City Center" If you put in Fairview, WV you should be just fine.

The real fun way is to come over Cameron Ridge. I swear there are places on that road where they have to pipe sunlight in. Winter months I bet they only get about 30 min of direct sunlight! Nonetheless, it's a wonderful scenic drive.

Rob

Okay, I'll get there one way or another. In case the passenger load gets bigger, is there room for my 12' trailer and crew cab truck to turn around at the range?

Danny

Turning around the rig might be tough, but not impossible. Worst case you could unhook, turn the truck around and hook up again on the way out.

When I wrote down the wrong set of directions thinking I was going to White Horse I found that no one knew where the Harry Jones range was located. Do not rely on the locals, copy Rob's or Harry Jones' directions.
